Lee Roy Selmon's life includes football scholarship, family service as well as community involvement. The first is his familial. Lucious Selmon was the father of Jessie Selmon. They raised nine children on a Eufala farm. He played second in football and was the third brother who played for Oklahoma. Three of them were All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey, Lee Roy, and Lucious Jr. Dewey started the 1973 season. Lee Roy is the winner of both Outland Awards as well as Lombardi Awards. He was the best lineman in the entire nation. In the three years that Roy played as a player, Oklahoma won two National Championships. Selmon was given a second scholarship in 1975, and was named as a National Football Foundation Student-Athlete. Selmon was awarded a degree from Education. Fourth year of college Lee Roy devoted ten hours each week on volunteer work. Following college, he moved to Tampa playing nine years for the Buccaneers was the all-pro 3 times, and began an entrepreneurial career. In 1988, he was an Account Relation Officer at Tampa's First Florida Bank and worked with these groups: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute on the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. In 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce honored Lee Roy in 1982 for being one of the top 10 young men in the US. Lee Roy stood 6-2 in height and weighed 256 pounds as a college player he captained the 1975 team. Lee Roy joined the University of South Florida in 1993 as an Associate Director of Sports. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame through his fellow members of the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame of 1994 and in the Pro Football Hall of Fame of 1995. In 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter of the National Football Foundation in 1989 gave their Distinguished American Award to his parents Mr. and Mrs.. Lucious Selmon Sr. Henry Bellmon is the Oklahoma governor who made this presentation.
