Dolly-Parton

Dolly Parton was born on the 19th January, 1946 in Locust Ridge Tenn. She was raised with twelve other kids. Her vivid imagination helped her escape from the harsh realities of everyday life. She was writing songs before she could write or read. Her first guitar purchase came at age 8 and started performing on the Knoxville Tenn radio station at the age of 11. The that same the year that Gold Band Records was a tiny independent record label. While she was popular in the local scene while she was at High School, she knew her goals were greater. The day after she graduated in 1964, she moved to Nashville. Her first charting hits for Monument Records included Dumb Blonde and Something Fishy both in 1967. Porter Wagoner's syndicated TV show required the services of a new singer by the time. Parton took the job in 1966. She then was signed to RCA Records in 1968, and the Grand Ole Opry was founded in 1969. The year 1974 was the first when she made the decision to quit Wagoner's show because the success of her solo albums such as Joshua Coat, Many Colors, and Jolene had outstripped their collaborative efforts. After their split, Parton wrote the song I Will Always Love You for Wagoner and it reached No. Its first appearance at the top spot was in 1974.
